Pasture Raised Free Range Hens

Better Eggs

More of the good, less of the bad

Compared to store bought conventional eggs, free-range        pastured eggs have approximately:

  • 1/3 less cholesterol
  • 1/4 less saturated fat
  • 2/3 more vitamin A
  • 2 times more omega-3 fatty acids
  • 3 times more vitamin E
  • 7 times more beta carotene
  • 6 times the amount of vitamin D

When hens are truly allowed to free-range on pasture their eggs will have much deeper yellow or even bright orange yolks which indicate a high amount of the antioxidants.  The yolk from an egg is known to be a good source of two antioxidants, lutein and zeaxanthin important for eye health. Eggs are also a great source for high quality protein and a low price.
